I'm Marcus Dudoit, owner of Cypress Wheel Co. I began hand crafting bicycle wheels in Lafayette, Louisiana, but we've recently located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO. I pride myself on crafting artisan quality wheels built for a lifetime of adventure.
I not only love wheels, I love to ride bikes, and I know firsthand how a well built set of wheels can improve ride quality and overall enjoyment. If done well, they can also compliment your impeccable sense of style and taste. You do have impeccable style and taste, right? If so, read on.
I build wheels for road cyclists, gravel cyclists, mountain bikers, triathletes, bikepackers and commuters. If you have a specialty application, let me know, I might be able to do that too.
WHY CYPRESS WHEEL CO.?
Have you ever driven on Louisiana roads? They'll shake tooth fillings loose in a car with a suspension much less a bike. Off-road riding isn't much better with all of the tree roots and mud. Seriously, have you ever plowed into a mud puddle at full speed only to hit a submerged cypress knee? I have and I can tell you exactly what swamp mud tastes like. If my wheels can stand up to the beating they take week in and week out, I know they'll work for you.
Sure, you can spend silly money and buy a set of off the shelf, machine built wheels by some of the big brands. They stay in business because there are a lot of people with more money than common sense. It's cool if that's what you prefer, but if that doesn't sound like you, then consider custom, hand crafted wheels. In most cases, we can build something that far exceeds the quality of production wheels at a significantly lower price point.
In all seriousness, I know you have a choice in wheel builders and there are a lot of good ones out there, but I'm confident that you'll be happy with a set of hand crafted wheels built by Cypress Wheel Co. I'm so confident that I offer one heck of a warranty on wheels that I build.
Wheel building is a passion of mine. I don't focus on volume, I focus on the quality of each build. I strive to take orders on a first come, first served basis, so the typical turnaround is ~2 weeks.
